On-the-move Loy looking good for Farm card

Tuesday 5 May 2015, 1:17pm

A promising book rides will give apprentice Brodie Loy a second-to-none chance of celebrating his move to Godolphin with a Warwick Farm winner on Wednesday.

Loy has been enticed to join Godolphin trainer John O'Shea on a three-month loan during the winter, providing the 3kg apprentice with the opportunity of a lifetime.

And he will link with one of the most recognisable stables in world racing as one of Sydney's in-demand junior riders after premier trainer Chris Waller also reportedly try to lure him to Rosehill.

Loy moved from the bush last year to try his luck in the city under Warwick Farm trainer David Pfieffer.

The 18-year-old has made gradual inroads to sit third in the Sydney metropolitan apprentices' title and with rides on two early favourites and one second elect he could easily find himself in second place after Wednesday's meeting.

"He has come a long way since my joining my stable," Pfieffer said.

"You can see him improving every week and the opportunity to work for Godolphin is a reward for the effort he has put in."

It will be Warwick Farm trainers other than Pfieffer and O'Shea who will provide Loy with his best chances at a midweek card boosted by an extra race to cater for horses which missed out on running in Saturday's Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Loy will ride Sebrina for Bjorn Baker in the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap and Roubaix for Joe Pride in the TAB Rewards Handicap and both mounts are favourites in early markets.

Sebrina returns to midweek grade after making ground from the back to fill the minor placing in the JHB Carr Stakes at Listed level.

Roubaix is resuming but the sprinter is better than most in rain-affected going and he looked as sharp as ever in an all-the-way Warwick Farm barrier trial last month.

Loy is expected to have Godolphin rides at Rosehill on Saturday before starting a 10-day suspension out of last week's Wagga Wagga Gold Cup meeting.
