A former Spanish champion jockey will make a rare appearance in the Melbourne metropolitan area on Saturday.
Alan Creighton will have just his fifth Caulfield ride when he partners Certain Ellie in the 1100m two-year-old race.
The 27-year-old, with around 500 wins to his credit, spent six years in Spain where his father Edward was a four-time champion trainer.
After moving to England where his father had set up a training base after the credit crunch hit, Creighton eventually followed his jockey brother Eddie to Western Australia, firstly backpacking before the urge to ride came again.
Warrnambool was first choice before a move to Mornington, his base over the past 15 months.
While Creighton would like to get more opportunities in town he knows he still has to do the hard yards on the country circuit.
A double at Bairnsdale last Sunday came about through riding work for different stables.
"I ride a lot of work," Creighton said.
"I go in most days and ride for Paul Rocke, Carlo Vidotto and Jason Petch.
"I'm riding well at the minute and hopefully I can get one that will put their hand up for me that I can end up in town on.
"That's the way Australian racing's going at the moment, you've got to be on them and bring them through."
The Rocke-trained Certain Ellie gave Creighton his first city win when she scored on the Morphettville Parks circuit in Adelaide in January.
And Creighton is sure the filly will run a better race than what her current price of $18 indicates.
"She has trialled up well, even though she runs about a bit in her races, but hopefully she can put her best foot forward and be very honest," he said.
