Daniel Bowman will saddle his first runner at Flemington when Lucky For You lines up at Victoria's racing headquarters on Saturday.
Bowman is no stranger to Flemington success in his role as Warrnambool foreman for leading trainer Darren Weir.
But for almost a year now he has dabbled in training a small team.
Besides the seven horses he has in work, Bowman is entrusted with 36 of Weir's gallopers with that number set to increase to 50.
The 28-year-old has trained six winners with Lucky For You providing Bowman with his biggest thrill when successful at Warrnambool during the three-day carnival earlier this month.
Bowman said his role with Weir had played a part in Lucky For You racing out his stable for high-profile owners Carmel Size and Yvonne Begg.
Weir trained Let's Rock'n'roll for Size and the sprinter thrived in the stable's Warrnambool set-up.
Bowman is setting Lucky For You for a feature race during the Swan Hill June Racing Carnival.
"His main target is to be the Golden Topaz and he just needs a run in between," Bowman said.
"If it rained leading up to Saturday that would bring him into the picture and in this class he would need it wet to figure."
