Victorian filly Ashlee Marie will keep travelling north with a Brisbane Group One target in her sights following her win at Randwick.
The Richard Laming-trained two-year-old won over 1400m on Wednesday to confirm a start in the JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Doomben on June 6.
Laming kept the filly and her stablemate Payroll apart with the latter to run in Saturday's BTC Sires' Produce Stakes at Doomben.
"She will only get better the further she goes," Laming said.
"The 1600 metres will be ideal."
Ridden hard to the line by Jim Cassidy, Ashlee Marie ($10) beat Encosta Line ($8) by a half head.
Payroll has pleased Laming since his second to Black Vanquish in the Thoroughbred Club Cup at Caulfield on May 2.
Ashlee Marie is named for late jockey Ashlee Mundy who was a long-time track rider for Laming's trainer-father Bevan at the Gold Coast.
Mundy died from head injuries received in a fall in her native New Zealand on December 31, 2012.
Her mother Cheryl is a part-owner of the filly which has won her only two starts.
