Winx keeps place as popular elect in Oaks

Wednesday 27 May 2015, 11:14am

Winx has maintained a firm hold on Queensland Oaks favouritism after the barrier draw for the Group One race.

Winx will start from a middle gate at Doomben on Saturday while Bohemian Lily, rated the main danger to her Chris Waller-trained rival, has the second widest barrier.

A capacity field of 16 has accepted for the Oaks with five emergencies also drawn.

Winx goes into the $500,000 race as a last-to-first winner of the Sunshine Coast Guineas and will have the services of leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman.

She was rated an unlucky runner when second to Gust Of Wind in last month's ATC Australian Oaks at Randwick.
