Chris Waller is concerned the Queensland Oaks won't be the examination of stamina he wants it to be to help Winx break through for her first Group One win.
Waller said he saw two sides to the scratching of Bohemian Lily, the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly who sustained a cut in a stable mishap on Friday morning.
Bohemian Lily had been rated the main danger to Winx and Waller says her absence may be a hindrance to Winx who has drawn a wide gate and is tipped to settle in the second half of the field.
"I saw it being a really tough staying test with Bohemian Lily in the race, and I actually thought it might suit Winx with the field spreading out," Waller said.
"It might take a lot of the speed out of the race, but you can't over analyse too much."
Waller will also have Ballet Suite in the Oaks (2200m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Ballet Suite defeated Bohemian Lily in the Princess Stakes before the latter came out and won The Roses last week.
Winx claimed Oaks favouritism with a last-to-first win in the Sunshine Coast Guineas at her first run since finishing second in the ATC Australian Oaks.
"We opted to leave last Saturday with Ballet Suite and go three weeks into the race and she's very well," Waller said.
"Everyone saw Winx's run two weeks ago so she's in her best possible condition and the 2200-metre Oaks will suit."
Winx is a clear-cut favourite with another Sydney filly, the Bjorn Baker-trained Sebrina, on the next line at $6 with Ballet Suit at $9.
Blake Shinn, the leading Sydney jockey who was to ride Bohemian Lily, goes on to Imperial Lass now the Peter Moody-trained filly has made the field.
Tommy Berry is plotting an Oaks upset with Zarzali, a $13 chance.
Freshened after finishing seventh in the ATC Australian Oaks, Zarzali was a closing third to Ballet Suite at Doomben on May 9.
Berry is hoping Zarzali can capitalise on a good draw with Winx and Ballet Suite drawn off the track.
"She might not be the best horse in the race but I think she'll get a better run than some of the better horses," Berry said.
