After a recent change of ownership, Time For War is back with his original trainer Gerald Ryan who has an anxious wait to find out if the colt can scrape into the field for the Stradbroke Handicap.

The three-year-old had three starts for Queensland trainer Stuart Kendrick, running second in the Gold Coast Guineas and the Glasshouse Handicap before finishing out of the placings in the Doomben 10,000.

A dual Group Two winner, Time For War is also entered for the Group Two Queensland Guineas on Saturday's Stradbroke program at Doomben.

"He was sold and the new owners asked me if I would take him back," Ryan said.

"He has been bought as a future stallion prospect at Kitchwin Hills.

"I think with the Stradbroke being over 1350 metres at Doomben this year it would be ideal for him.

"But we need a few more horses to come out to work our way up the order of entry.

Trainer Chris Waller has confirmed Doomben 10,000 winner Boban and three-year-old Delectation are definite runners with Flamingo Star to also run if he makes the field.

A decision on whether New Zealander El Roca takes his place will not be made until the Wednesday morning deadline.

Co-trainer Natalie Young said the other option was the Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich a week later.

At his first start for more than a year, the dual Group One placegetter finished 11th in the BTC Cup before his fifth in Saturday's QTC Cup.

"We'll talk to the owners and make a decision on Wednesday about the Stradbroke or we might wait for the Eye Liner," Young told NZ Racing Desk.

"He'll get in the Stradbroke with a lighter weight, but he probably needs to be going a bit better to run in a Group One."

Stradbroke favourite Lumosty is still not guaranteed a start but her cause will be helped if the qualified Waller-trained pair Catkins and Strawberry Boy don't take their places.
