Williams to ride Brazen Beau in Jubilee

Wednesday 10 June 2015, 8:37am

Craig Williams has been confirmed as the rider of Brazen Beau if he runs in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The colt also holds an entry for the King's Stand Stakes on the first day of the meeting but if he runs in other sprint on Saturday, Joao Moreira will be unavailable because of commitments in Hong Kong.

Moreira has won two Australian Group One races on Brazen Beau.

Grant Morgan, managing director of owners Ontrack Thoroughbreds, said Williams was the obvious choice.

"Craig knows the horse very well having ridden him in two trials as well as a second in the Lightning Stakes," Morgan said.

"He also has extensive experience in the UK and Royal Ascot."

Trainer Chris Waller's preferred option is the Diamond Jubilee and he will finalise plans later this week.

"Chris gets here on Thursday. I want him to make a call on a King's Stand or Diamond Jubilee run after he sees the horse here," Morgan said.

"There's no point rushing decisions like this, we want to get it right."

"Chris is leaning towards the Diamond Jubilee but there isn't too much in it."
