Fresh from a career-best four-win haul at Ballarat, apprentice Michael Dee is set for another first at Caulfield.
Dee, who rode a career-best four winners in a day at Wednesday's metropolitan meeting, will wear Godolphin's royal blue colours on Saturday at Caulfield aboard the John O'Shea-trained Stiletto.
"It's my first ride for Mr O'Shea so I'm looking forward to that," Dee told Melbourne radio station RSN.
While he concedes he has a wide barrier to contend with aboard Stiletto in the TAB Supports National Jockeys Trust Plate (1100m), Dee still rates the filly one of his better chances among a book of six rides.
The New Zealander, who arrived in Melbourne in January for a stint with Caulfield trainer Mick Price, said he would definitely remain in Victoria until at least the end of his apprenticeship.
"We'll see what happens after that," Dee said, adding he had learned a lot since being in Melbourne riding against some of the country's best jockeys.
Dee's Ballarat winning spree took his tally of metropolitan wins in Victoria to 21.
He is third in the Melbourne apprentices' premiership behind Patrick Moloney (42) and Regan Bayliss (32).
Dee was due to have seven rides on Saturday but Price has scratched Duke Of Brunswick.
The apprentice considers last-start Moonee Valley winner Word Of Mouth, the favourite in the final race, as his best chance of the day.
"I think everyone is pretty confident with Word Of Mouth. He won very convincingly at Moonee Valley last start so he goes into this with a good chance," Dee said.
He is also upbeat about the prospects of the Ciaron Maher-trained three-year-old Heavy, who was held up for a run at a crucial stage when fifth at Flemington at his last start.
"He was very unlucky not to actually win (last start)," Dee said.
Heavy is the $4 favourite in the Henry Dwyer Racing Handicap (2000m).
