It is rare for a Golden Slipper placegetter to kick off their three-year-old campaign in a provincial maiden but that's where Hawkes Racing has decided to start with Lake Geneva.
Co-trainer Michael Hawkes has confirmed their intention to run Lake Geneva in a three-year-old maiden plate at Hawkesbury on Thursday, her first start since she finished third to Vancouver in the Golden Slipper.
The filly was also entered for a race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday but didn't accept after she was given 66.5kg.
"It's the right race for her (at Hawkesbury)," Hawkes said.
"She's been there and done it but unfortunately she still hasn't won a race."
Lake Geneva had a luckless two-year-old campaign, filling minor placings in two black-type races along with dual Group Ones the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond Stakes.
The stable is hoping she can post a breakthrough win at Hawkesbury before she steps up to the opening leg of the Princess Series, the Group Two Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick on August 22.
Stable jockey Tommy Berry will ride Lake Geneva in the Sigma 3YO Maiden Plate (1000m) in which the filly is set to start a prohibitive favourite.
