Trainer Trevor Miller is hoping it will be a case of third time lucky when one of his horses takes on smart three-year-old Most Important on Saturday.
The Tony Gollan-trained Most Important has proved a nemesis for Miller in recent months.
Most Important beat the Miller-trained Dam Wonderful by a nose at their first starts and then at his most recent run he beat another Miller horse, Monaco Playboy, again by a nose.
"It isn't unusual to run second to the same horse. But to be beaten a nose on both occasions is a bit strange," Miller said.
He is hopeful Monaco Playboy can turn the tables when he meets Most Important in the Duffus Memorial 3YO over 1200m at Doomben.
Miller believes Monaco Playboy is like many of the breed by Group One-winning sire Monaco Consul who improve with age.
"We meet Most Important better at the weights this time and it might be our turn," Miller said.
Monaco Consul has been getting a steady stream of winners in Queensland including Honesta who won at Doomben last Saturday.
Most Important cost owner Linda Huddy $250,000 as a yearling and trainer Tony Gollan has high hopes for the colt who is by boom sire I Am Invincible.
Trainer Craig Cousins is hoping a better barrier draw can help Relampago beat both Most Important and Monaco Playboy.
Relampago was beaten half a length into fourth behind the pair at the Sunshine Coast at his last start.
"He was caught deep and with a better barrier he would have just about won. On Saturday we have barrier two," Cousins said.
