Godolphin apprentice Brodie Loy will be out of action for up to six weeks after scans confirmed he fractured his left elbow in a race fall at Warwick Farm.
Loy's manager Jeff Brian spoke to the young rider, who remained in Liverpool hospital on Thursday, and said Loy was in good spirits despite the injury.
"He's fractured an elbow," Brian said.
"He will be back in four to six weeks time."
Loy was dislodged from the John Sargent-trained Kiwi Eletist when the horse shied at the 1400m crossing in the fourth race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
He was treated by medical staff on track and taken to Liverpool Hospital for scans which confirmed a fracture to the elbow.
Loy was still awaiting the results of further scans but hoped to be released from hospital later on Thursday.
The youngster was booked to ride Burbero in the Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick on Saturday and has been replaced by New Zealand apprentice Rory Hutchings.
