Niminypiminy has provided jockey Damian Lane with his first metropolitan winner after returning from a three-month stint in Hong Kong.
The victory aboard Niminypiminy in the Melville Yates/Craig Dann Handicap at Flemington on Saturday was Lane's sixth ride city ride since returning last month.
However Lane has been in terrific form on out-of-town tracks with the win on Niminypiminy his ninth from 28 rides.
Lane said he gained a lot of experience in Hong Kong where he notched five winners from 151 rides.
And he hasn't ruled out returning to the hub of Asian racing.
Niminypiminy ($8.50) scored a strong 1-1/2 length victory from Letmedowngently ($51) with Herstory, the $2.35 favourite a short neck away third.
"It was a good learning curve going up there and it has definitely improved my riding which is the main thing," Lane said.
Lane has been riding trackwork for several trainers, a move he said was starting to pay off.
One of those trainers is Russell Cameron who prepares Niminypiminy.
"I do a lot of work for Russell and the team at Flemington," Lane said.
"I couldn't be happier with the support I have been getting from a number of trainers and hopefully I can keep it going."
