Mike Moroney was a relieved trainer after promising filly Alaskan Rose maintained a perfect record at Caulfield.
Alaskan Rose scored on debut at Sandown on August 12 and followed up with her win in the Montague Tree Handicap (1400m) on Saturday.
Ridden by Steven Arnold, Alaskan Rose, the $2.60 favourite, scored by 1-1/4 length from Giulietta ($8) with Sailing By ($4.20) a half neck away third.
"She's always been a smart filly and when you train those sort of horses you feel that little bit of pressure," Moroney said.
Moroney said he favoured not racing Alaskan Rose for a month before bringing her back for the Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield on September 26 in the lead-up to the Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 10.
The trainer was impressed with the manner in which Alaskan Rose relaxed but admitted he had concerns before the home turn when Arnold applied the pressure.
"We've got to go a little bit further now but the way she relaxes it looks like she'll cope with that," Moroney said.
Arnold is confident Alaskan Rose can develop into a high-class filly.
"She relaxes well off a moderate tempo and she's got a turn of foot," he said.
"That will win you a lot of races."
