Peter Moody shared the joy of winning with the connections of Gold Symphony after completing a double at Caulfield.
Moody has a directions hearing scheduled for September 9 into his cobalt charges and declined media interviews after the victories of Abidewithme and Gold Symphony on Saturday.
One of five trainers facing elevated cobalt charges in Victoria, Moody said on Friday in a radio interview could not understand how his horse Lidari had returned a reading above the cobalt threshold last year.
Gold Symphony's success in the Group Three HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) was the colt's second stakes race success.
Ridden by Glen Boss, Gold Symphony ($9) scored by a head from Ready For Victory ($4.20) with Demonstrate ($16) a half length away third.
Boss, who rode the son of Reward For Effort to victory in the Vain Stakes, said the colt was on an upward spiral.
"He's sharpened up in his brain and physically he looks better," Boss said.
"He's just a winner."
Boss said one of the best attributes Gold Symphony had was an ability to put himself in the right place in a race.
"He puts himself in a spot and his last 50 metres of the race today was his best," Boss said.
"They're good traits for a colt."
Mark Zahra, rider of Ready For Victory, said the colt had no luck from his inside draw.
"I had to wait for Glen to go before I could get running so to run him to a head, heading towards the Golden Rose, it was a really good run," Zahra said.
