Ben Melham cops 12-meeting Caulfield ban

Ben Melham will miss the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley after being suspended for 12 meetings.

Melham was outed after his ride on Kansas Sunflower in the opening race at Caulfield on Saturday.

The jockey pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge after Kerrin McEvoy's mount Redasun became unbalanced near the 1200m.

Melham returns on September 11, one day before the Makybe Diva Stakes meeting at Flemington.
