Victorian jockey Dale Smith has had a small win in his appeal over a careless riding suspension.
On Monday, the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board shaved one meeting off his 11 meeting ban for his ride on Jobodwana who finished last at Sandown on Wednesday.
His suspension was due to start at midnight on August 29 and end at midnight September 9.
Smith unsuccessfully challenged the careless riding charge but got partial reprieve on the severity of sentence.
However, as he was riding on a stay of proceedings, which included at Pakenham on Sunday where he had a winner, the RAD varied his suspension to start at midnight on Sunday with a return date of September 10.
