The class of Howmuchdoyouloveme has risen to the top at Rosehill with the Group performer claiming his first win for more than two years.
The seven-year-old's last win before Saturday was in the Group three WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm in June 2013.
He was trained for that race by Tina Cotsiopoulos while Con Karakatsanis was serving a disqualification for a race day treatment.
Howmuchdoyoulovme then spent time with Jim Litt before returning home to Karakatsanis last year.
Carrying 58kg after Samantha Clenton's three kilogram claim, Howmuchdoyouloveme sprinted away with the Cellarbrations benchmark 93 (1100m) to beat Zin Zan Eddie ($5.50) by 1-1/2 lengths with a half head to favourite Inz'N'Out ($2.25).
"He still has some win in him and I couldn't have been happier going into this race," Karakatsanis said.
"I was a bit worried about the wet track but he is a horse with a lot of class."
The race was a milestone for Clenton with the win her 20th in the metropolitan, bringing her claim down to 2kg from Wednesday.
"I came here today with a good book of rides and was hoping to get the winner to reduce my claim," Clenton said.
"He came off the bridle a long way out and was just too good for them."
In his younger days, Howmuchdoyouloveme raced at the highest level but Karakatsanis said he was treading gently with him.
"We will just take him one run at a time," he said.
