First declarations for 2016 Blue Diamond

A total of 618 two-year-olds remain in contention for the Blue Diamond Stakes at the first declaration stage.

Of the original 1343 nominations taken in July, 612 continue to be in the mix with an additional six late entries.

The Lindsay Park training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig lead the way with 63 two-year-old entries in the $1 million race at Caulfield on February 27.

The Godolphin team has 46 first acceptors and Mick Price 45.

Snitzel, with 45 horses among the first acceptances, has the highest representation of the stallions ahead of Fastnet Rock (33) and Sebring (30).

The state breakdown reveals 374 of the remaining juveniles are trained in Victoria, 208 in NSW with South Australia (27), Queensland (seven) and Western Australia (two) also represented.

Colts and geldings maintain the biggest presence with 333, while 285 fillies remain.

The next round of acceptances is due on January 12.
