Jack Hill is set for a return to race riding after almost nine months out due to a head injury.
Hill will partner the Robert Smerdon-trained Primo Pintxo at Sale on Friday.
He hasn't ridden since falling from The Muckle Toon at Donald on March 27 when he was airlifted to hospital.
Hill suffered bleeding to the brain and a broken collarbone which requiring a plate.
"I can't remember a month before the fall and can only remember the last week of the nine weeks I spent in hospital," Hill told Melbourne radio station RSN.
After six months recuperating Hill spent time pottering on horseback at Patrick Payne's property before engaging in full-time trackwork at Caulfield.
As he prepares for his comeback, Hill weighed into the controversy over the introduction of new helmets jockeys will have to wear next year.
"They feel wrong when they sit on your head," he said.
"The padding at the back doesn't feel right and puts too much pressure on the back of your neck.
"I'm a big believer in the helmet we have now is very good and I'd be happy to stay with it."
