Katelyn Mallyon still shy of losing claim

Thursday 10 December 2015, 7:04am

Katelyn Mallyon remains one win short of outriding her apprentices' claim after three rides at Sandown.

Each of Mallyon's mounts on Wednesday filled a place with Sagacious Miss finishing second in the seventh race.

The apprentice returned to race riding at the start of December after injury forced her to the sidelines in August.

Mallyon was given an extension to her apprenticeship and moved to within one win of outriding her claim with a winner at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

She doesn't ride at Moonee Valley this Friday and heads to Flemington on Saturday with a strong book of six rides on the nine event card.

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne is the only Victorian woman to outride her claim.
