Saluter just needs a top-three finish in the Lough Neagh Stakes at Doomben to become trainer Robert Heathcote's fourth million-dollar earner.
The gelding won his last start over Saturday's distance of 1350m to take his prize money to $985,790.
"While winning a million isn't as prestigious as it once was it is still great credit to the horse," Heathcote said.
"The owners are good people and deserve to have a pin-up horse."
"His win last start under 58kg was in very fast time. He drops to 54 and has the inside barrier on Saturday.
Michael Cahill takes over from apprentice Alannah Fancourt who was the winning rider last start.
"Lannie rode him perfectly last time but you need a senior rider in a stakes race," Heathcote said.
Heathcote other three horses to the million dollar milestone are Buffering ($5,842,366), Solzenitshyn ($1,054,615) and Woorim ($1,054,150).
The trainer was quick to point out Saluter was originally with Jason McLachlan and raced for the Sunshine Coast trainer when he won the rich Magic Millions Guineas.
