A Lotta Love has scored an emotional maiden metropolitan win for her owners at Flemington.
Part-owner Tom Thring died during the week following a battle with cancer.
Ridden by Mark Zahra, A Lotta Love was backed from $3.80 into $2.90 favouritism before scoring a 1-1/4 length win in the Lola And Trish's Handicap on Saturday.
"He was a very dear friend of ours," fellow part-owner Russell Boyd said of Thring.
"It's great for his family and they would have been watching in Brisbane.
"He was in a couple of horses with us and he would have been in a few more with us as well going forward."
A Lotta Love maintained her unbeaten record this campaign after making a successful return at Ballarat on November 21 following a five-month spell.
"I'm in two minds as to how to play the next part of the prep, so we'll see how it unfolds over the next week or so," said trainer Sam Pritchard-Gordon.
"It was a lovely confident ride and the ease in which she did it showed she was the best horse in the race."
