Although the official records will say Jason Collett rode 3-1/2 winners at Randwick on Saturday, he will take it as technical four.
Although he was expected to win the 1200m benchmark 85 on Rule The River, Collett's other victories were little more complex for punters, most notably the Listed Razor Sharp (1200m) on $41 chance Cradle Me.
In between, Collett rode Shutter Bug ($4.60) to a dead-heat with the equal favourite Pera Pera in the Highway Handicp (1400m) and Lady Sniper ($13) in the $250,000 Inglis Sprint.
"I rode four winners one day at Dargaville," Collett said.
"It's a small track in New Zealand and they only race twice a year."
Cradle Me's win was her first at stakes level and her first since July last year.
Collett was patient on the David Pfieffer-trained mare who settled at the back of the field and stayed there until well into the straight.
"I angled out about the 300 metres," he said.
"And then I started to make my run at the 180. I could see those in front of me were stopping and I thought 'I'm going'.
"To be fair to her, it wasn't too bad a run last time when she ran fifth in the Starlight Stakes."
