Sydney jockey Tye Angland took advantage of a rain-marred day at Doomben to lift NSW to the equal lead in the State of Origin jockeys' series.
The second day of the four-day series was hampered when three of the eight rides for Origin jockeys were scratched because of the wet track.
Angland went within the narrowest of margin to gain maximum points when a nose second on Glendara in the first heat.
Glendara failed by a nose to catch Mister Booze in a finish which took the judge several minutes to decide.
"To be honest it was so close I had no idea who had won," Angland said.
Angland then picked up a point for an unplaced ride in the last while Darren Gauci (Victoria), Damian Browne (New Zealand) and Glen Boss (Queenland) each picked up a point for unplaced rides.
After day two, NSW and Queensland are on 11 points, New Zealand on seven and Victoria on five.
