Pike to ride Neverland in the Perth Cup

Wednesday 30 December 2015, 8:00am

William Pike has sprung a surprise by choosing to ride Neverland in the Perth Cup instead of stablemate Delicacy.

Last season's champion filly, Delicacy will now be ridden by Peter Hall in the New Year's Day Group Two feature over 2400 metres at Ascot.

Delicacy is the TAB's $2.10 favourite ahead of Neverland at $3.90.

Neverland has never won beyond 1500 metres but was an unlucky second over 2200 last time out with Pike aboard.

Delicacy's wins range from 1000m to the 2500m of the South Australian Derby.

Both mares are trained by Grant Williams.
