Felix Bay might be one of the outsiders in the Tattersalls Club Cup at Randwick but co-trainer Greg Lee believes he can pull off an upset in the New Year's Day feature.
The six-year-old is among several horses transferred to Jim and Greg Lee's stable from their friend Kevin Moses who is fighting a disqualification for cobalt use.
Felix Bay tested above the 200mcg threshold after he was unplaced in a race at Hawkesbury in April.
He has had two runs for the Lee brothers for a fifth over 2200 metres at Warwick Farm and an unlucky third over 2400 at the same track last week in a race won by Tatts Cup rival Zatopaz.
"He doesn't know he's an outsider," Greg Lee said.
"He was unlucky last time and the bigger track will suit him.
"He came to us in great condition and I think he can win.
Felix Bay is at $26 with Jiayuguan the $3 Tatts Cup favourite ahead of Sir John Hawkwood who is giving his rivals between 4-1/2 and give kilos.
The John Thompson-trained Jiayuguan was an unlucky second to Sir John Hawkwood in the Christmas Cup earlier this month.
"The topweight is a very good horse but the Felix Bay is on the limit (54kg) and that helps," Lee said.
The Lee brothers also inherited apprentice Koby Jennings from Moses and the young rider delivered for them at Canterbury on Wednesday with Never Back Down scoring a half head win over Lucy's Look at the end of 1580 metres.
"He is a nice horse and he's turned the corner," Lee said.
"His dam is Lucky Jewel and his third dam is Dark Jewel."
Dark Jewel was the mare who began a dynasty for the Tait family with champions Baguette, Cabochon and Heirloom.
