Leading Hong Kong trainer John Moore could get some good news when he arrives in Queensland for the Magic Millions sales next week.
Moore races horses in Australia and many of them are divided between his brother Gary in Sydney and Bryan Guy at the Gold Coast.
Among the Queensland-trained horses is three-year-old Eagle Way who has won his past two starts including a last-stride victory over Charcuterie at Doomben on December 19.
The gelding will again meet Charcuterie in the Three-Year-Old (1800m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
Guy expects Eagle Way to be hard to beat and to confirm his rating as a possible Queensland Derby runner in the winter.
"John will be here for the Magic Millions Sales. He is hoping for some good news about Eagle Way and I expect I will be able to give it to him," Guy said.
"Eagle Way took a little while to settle in when he came up from Sydney. But he won his second start for us at 1600 metres and then his next at 1615 metres."
"The 1800 around a big track like the Sunshine Coast should give us a very good idea of how he will handle a longer trip.
"The Derby should be back at Eagle Farm this year which I think will suit him."
Eagle Way cost $200,000 as a yearling but Guy is hopeful he can more recoup that amount later in his career.
Charcuterie is by noted sprinting sire Snitzel but his trainer Kelso Wood believes the colt is looking for at least 1800m.
Charcuterie is owned by a syndicate including Neville Morgan and David Devine who have had much success with Snitzel's offspring.
They owned Group One winner Sizzling and the current Magic Millions 2YO Classic hopeful Nikitas who are both by Snitzel.
