Home Of The Brave disqualified from G3 win

Tuesday 5 January 2016, 7:32am

Irish horse Gordon Lord Byron has been awarded a Group Three victory with the disqualification of Australian-owned Home Of The Brave from the Minstrel Stakes for a positive test.

A Group One winner in Australia of the 2014 George Ryder Stakes, Gordon Lord Byron now has 13 wins to his credit.

The Hugo Palmer-trained Home Of The Brave was stripped of his victory in July's race at the Curragh after traces of hydroxydantrolene - used to treat a muscle strain - were found in a sample.

Home Of The Brave is owned by Flemington Bloodstock Partnership, a group which includes trainer Troy Corstens and Racing Victoria chairman David Moodie.

The Turf Club accepted Palmer's explanation and did not impose any penalty other than the disqualification.
