Pride Of Dubai favouritism under attack

Friday 5 February 2016, 6:56am

The Chris Waller-trained Counterattack is pressing Group One winner Pride Of Dubai for favouritism on the Eskimo Prince Stakes at Randwick.

Since betting opened on the Group Three race, Counterattack has been the best-backed runner, firming from $6 to $4.40.

Pride Of Dubai, who steps out for the first time as a three-year-old, is clinging to his position at the top of the market as a $3.80 chance.

Counterattack is making his first appearance since taking the minor placing behind stablemate Japonisme in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup carnival.

The colt resumes without blinkers and will race in winkers for the first time.

Pride Of Dubai went amiss while being prepared for the spring carnival, but trainer Peter Snowden said the three-year-old had figured in a trouble-free preparation for a return to racing.

"He's pretty fresh at the moment but he's in good order and he's nice and sound which is even better," Snowden said.

Bookmakers give Snowden a second-to-none chance of having a feature-race double on Saturday as the stable's two mares Dublin Lass and I've Got The Looks occupy the first and second lines of betting on the Group Two Breeders' Classic.
