While So You Think did not make his racecourse debut until late May of his two year-old season, the promise being shown by his first progeny at this early stage is enough to suggest that he has a very bright future as a sire.

Amongst those showing the most promise is the filly Conscious (2f So You Think x Elimbari, by Fastnet Rock), who made an eye-catching debut when second in the Listed Talindert Stakes over 1100m at Flemington on Saturday behind G1 Golden Slipper candidate Weatherly.

Despite racing greenly, the Bob Hannon bred filly showed plenty of speed and a most willing attitude to get within a length and a half of the more experienced winner, the pair pulling over three lengths clear of their 13 rivals.

‘I think she’s pretty good and she’ll go back to Flemington for the (G3) Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes over 1200m down the straight’ said trainer Troy Corstens. ‘She’ll be hard to beat there.’

The trainer added; ‘She surprised us a bit as we weren’t expecting her to be early, even though there are some nice two year-olds in her pedigree, but she’s got one of the greatest attitudes you’ve ever seen. She does very well in the stable and is just very tough. She’s the only So You Think I have, but I’ll be looking for more of them thanks to her!’

The other two progeny of So You Think to have appeared at the races are the Bjorn Baker trained filly Too Fast For Love, an encouraging 4th in the Listed Inglis Nursery over 1000m in December behind G1 Blue Diamond favourite Extreme Choice and Gold Rush, who finished runner-up over 1200m at Matamata in late January behind G1 prospect Mongolian Falcon.

With over 120 unraced two year-olds, including promising sorts in the hands of the likes of Snowden, Hawkes, Waller, Moody, Cummings, Moroney and Waterhouse, momentum is building behind So You Think in advance of the Autumn.
