Apprentice Regan Bayliss will always be thankful for Peter Moody's guidance as he continues the next phase of his career for a new stable at Sandown.

Bayliss started his apprenticeship with Moody but his indentures have been transferred to David Hayes and Tom Dabernig after his former boss quit training in the wake of a six-month suspension.

"I honed all my skills there and I'm very grateful for how Peter Moody guided me and what he taught me through my apprenticeship," Bayliss said.

Five of Bayliss' eight rides at Sandown on Saturday - his last meeting before starting a suspension that runs through until April 27 - are for Lindsay Park trainers Hayes and Dabernig.

Bayliss starts the meeting with the ride on the Hayes and Dabernig-trained North Sky in the Ladbrokes Australia Handicap (1300m).

The colt by Northern Meteor was well in the market on debut when finishing 10th and Bayliss expects a better performance from the two-year-old at its second start.

"Although he looked disappointing on debut, his gallops and his trials suggested he is much better than that," Bayliss said.

"From barrier one I expect a forward showing from him."

Bayliss is most looking forward to riding former West Australian mare Sheidel in the Ladbrokes Infohub Handicap (1000m).

Sheidel won 11 of her 15 starts in the west including three at Listed level.

The four-year-old had to come wide before finishing strongly for third to Beau Rada in a 955m race at Moonee Valley in her first start for Hayes and Dabernig recently.

"She was just a real bulldog over there in WA," Bayliss said.

"First-up at Moonee Valley she just had to get a touch too far back from an awkward barrier and she motored home. Second-up on Saturday it looks to be a perfect race for her."
