He's Our Rokkii to run in Packer Plate

Sunday 10 April 2016, 2:30pm

He's Our Rokkii will chase his second Group win of the Sydney autumn carnival in the Frank Packer Plate.

The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained gelding won the Group Three Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) on Day One of The Championships last Saturday week.

He will be tried beyond 1600m for the first time in Saturday's 2000m race for three-year-olds at Randwick, also at Group Three level.

"He's had a great foundation for it," Dabernig said.

"He's very fit and the way he covered ground and was still strong on the line last start, you would think it wouldn't be a problem.

"He was bought with the intention of being a middle-distance horse."

He's Our Rokkii, who started his career in New Zealand, has won three of his 12 starts and Dabernig believes the best is ahead.

"I think whatever he does this preparation he'll benefit from going into the spring," he said.

The Lindsay Park team could have Fast `N' Rocking in Saturday's Group One All Aged Stakes, while Dabernig said Bold Sniper would probably make his Sydney debut in the JRA Plate (2000m).

Owned by The Queen, Bold Sniper is yet to win in six Australian starts but his spring included a fourth in the Moonee Valley Cup won by The United States from Prince Of Penzance.

Bold Sniper was reacquainted with clockwise racing when he resumed with an unplaced run in last month's Albury Mile in which he carried 65kg.

"He had a huge weight, got back and never really came into it," Dabernig said.

"He hasn't won for a while. I thought a couple of his runs in the spring were acceptable and then he sort of trained off on us a bit. We'll probably be going up there more hoping than confident, but you never know."
