Chautauqua and Buffering draw well in HK

Thursday 28 April 2016, 3:59pm

Australian sprint star Chautauqua has drawn a middle barrier for the Group One Chairman's Sprint Prize in Hong Kong.

Chautauqua will jump from barrier six in the 14-horse field while another Aussie sprint star Buffering has gate three.

Four-time Group One winner Chautauqua will be having his first overseas start having won the $2.5 million TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) in Sydney for the second-straight year in a spectacular last-to-first performance at Randwick on April 2.

Buffering, a seven-time Group One winner, will be chasing back-to-back wins on the international stage after his Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) win on World Cup night in Dubai last month.

The Chairman's Sprint Prize (1200m) is one of two International Group One races on Sunday's program at Sha Tin along with the Champions Mile.

Godolphin's Australian trainer John O'Shea has Bow Creek in the Champions Mile and the import has come up with barrier 11 in the field of 12.
