A stewards' inquiry into tactics employed by a jockey in a race in country Victoria has been adjourned.
Racing Victoria stewards are investigating the ride of Craig Robertson aboard Bolshoi Bandit in the Moama Bowling Club Handicap at Echuca on April 10.
Stewards took evidence from Robertson, trainer Kym Hann and managing owner Christopher Morey at Thursday's inquiry.
Stewards have asked Robertson to supply telephone records, including outgoing and incoming calls, before reconvening.
Bolshoi Bandit finished last in the benchmark 58 race as a $4.40 second favourite.
The inquiry heard both Hann and Morey had expressed concern with the ride.
Robertson told stewards that Bolshoi Bandit was hanging in and that it didn't allow him to ride the horse in his normal manner.
"(After) thirty years of riding, it's racing manners tell me there is something wrong with the horse," Robertson told the inquiry.
Chief steward Terry Bailey asked Robertson: "Did you try on the horse?"
"Yes. One hundred per cent," Robertson replied.
"I can sit here and honestly and truthfully say I didn't stop that horse.
"I've just had a young baby and I'm not going to put a noose around my career."
