Weir-trained Lidari returns positive swab

Thursday 28 April 2016, 6:34pm

Lidari has returned a positive swab to the anti-inflammatory ibuprofen when unplaced in the Peter Young Stakes in February.

The Darren Weir-trained Lidari finished 12th in the race at Caulfield.

Stewards told Weir of the confirmatory findings on Thursday and they are continuing their investigations.

Lidari was formerly trained by Peter Moody.

Under Moody's care, Lidari tested positive to cobalt, resulting in a suspension for the trainer.

Moody has since closed his successful stable in wake of the ban.

Trainer Luke Oliver has also been told the gelding Cosmic Lights has returned a positive to ibuprofen in a urine sample after finishing third first-up in a race at Bendigo in March.
