Top Of My List on trial for Qld campaign

Tuesday 3 May 2016, 4:28pm

Anthony Cummings could have more than one Oaks result on his mind if sparingly raced Top Of My List does what he expects at Rosehill.

Cummings will be in Adelaide on Saturday as ATC Australian Oaks placegetter Believe continues her campaign in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

But he will keep a close watch on Sydney racing to see if Top Of My List can come through the first middle-distance test of her short career.

Top Of My List steps up to 1900m under benchmark conditions for three-year-olds in what promises to be an audition for something better during the Queensland winter carnival.

"She's entered for Brisbane. It could be the Queensland Oaks, it might be the Queensland Guineas," Cummings said.

Top Of My List has raced three times for a Warwick Farm win on debut and a last-start 1500m placing at Rosehill to Imposing Lass.

"She has come out of her last run in good shape and she should run quite well," Cummings said.

Believe and Top Of My List represent the next generation of possible Cummings stars as his stable continues to be reshaped after the Sydney autumn carnival.

Rosehill Guineas placegetter Montaigne has been sold to Hong Kong interests and well-performed Vergara fetched $460,000 during the latest session of the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale on Tuesday.

"It's a happy and sad sort of thing with Vergara," Cummings said of the Epona Stakes winner.

"You like having those horses of that quality around the stable, but she's probably only got one prep left in her and at the end of the day I'm probably better off with the new horses."

Top Of My List is certain to face multiple runners from the Chris Waller stable at Rosehill.

Waller has 10 of the 23 entries in a race full of three-year-olds trying to press their claims for staying races in Queensland.

Cummings's stable stalwart Spy Decoder is likely to skip the Lord Mayors Cup to be saved for a possible Scone Cup carnival appearance.
