A careless riding suspension has marred a landmark day for jockey Jamie Mott at Warrnambool.
Mott rode his first winner over jumps aboard Livery in a division of the maiden hurdle on Tuesday and was later successful on the flat scoring aboard God Forbid in the final event on the 10-race card.
But stewards later slapped Mott with a 10-meeting suspension for his ride in a 1200m-benchmark race for shifting in on King Mapoora near the 1000m-mark, causing the Brad Rawiller-ridden Matagami to be steadied.
His suspension begins after Thursday's meeting and he can return on May 14.
Jumps jockey Braidon Small was fined $400 for being two strikes over the number permitted in a division of the maiden hurdle while fellow jumps jockey Kosuke Kawakami was given a $200 fine for using the whip on Savvy Dancer when his mount was out of contention.
A decision will be made on Wednesday whether Lord Of The Song takes his place in Thursday's Grand Annual Steeplechase.
Lord Of The Song's performance in the Brierly Steeplechase on Tuesday was referred to the Jumps Review Panel after he finished second last, more than 25 lengths from the winner Valediction.
The second day of the three-day carnival on Wednesday features the Galleywood Hurdle and the Wangoom Handicap.
