Co-trainer Paul Snowden insists the mission statement for blue blood filly Maraam is no more complicated than ensuring she retires from racing with a record that her pedigree deserves.

And a win at Rosehill on Saturday is likely to accelerate stable plans to give Maraam that chance when she takes on Stradbroke Handicap entry Sir Bacchus.

"It will be in the back of our minds to find some black type if she is successful on Saturday. It may get her to Brisbane," Snowden said.

"She is bred in the purple. We paid a fair bit of coin for her and if we can get that little bit of black type for her it will certainly make her a very valuable broodmare."

Maraam's pedigree page stands up against any in the Australian Stud Book and that's why Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum went to $1.05 million to buy her at the 2014 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

She was the dearest filly in the catalogue and with that comes added responsibility for stable.

"It doesn't matter if she wins one or ten stakes races, just so long as she wins one and then she can go (to stud) the next day," Snowden said.

"If we can do it this prep we will but if not hopefully she might be able to race on and we can have a spring with her."

Maraam will go into the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap after a last-start midweek win that had Snowden and his father Paul thinking of better races.

"It was a really solid win because not too many won from back in the field like she did on the day," he said.

Maraam's family members include the Golden Slipper Forensics, but she was never going to be precocious enough to match her relation's deeds as a two-year-old.

"We always thought she was a stakes-class filly, but she's been very immature," Snowden said.

Maraam is a $9.50 chance in a market headed by Chris Waller's impressive first-up winner Sir Bacchus who is also on trial for Brisbane.

She is the shortest-priced of the Snowden team's three Rosehill runners with out-of-form stayer Disclaimer unwanted in the Lord Mayors Cup and Francesco at double figures in the Hyland Race Colours Handicap.
