A two-state treble at the weekend has been followed by a race-to-race double at Sandown for trainer Mick Kent.

The Cranbourne-based conditioner landed a double at Flemington and the Group One Australasian Oaks with Abbey Marie at Morphettville on Saturday before Holy Cow and Quilate were successful on Wednesday.

Quilate's victory in the Crown Golden Ale Plate was Kent's fifth winner in a row.

Kent has plans to head to Adelaide for a black-type race with Holy Cow.

He's picked out the Listed Centaurea Stakes over 2000m at Morphettville on Saturday week for the mare.

Kent had hopes Holy Cow could be a stakes performer earlier in her career but said the daughter of Teofilio had been plagued by feet issues.

He said those problems caused him to bypass a run at Flemington last week with the track expected to be on the firm side and he decided to keep her for Sandown where she had to lump 61kg.

Ridden by Mark Zahra, Holy Cow ($3.90) made light of the impost as she raced to a 1-3/4 lengths win from the $3.30 favourite Fife with Lady Provocateur ($6.50) a length away third.

"With that rain earlier in the week this track is beautiful and has the jar out of it," Kent said.

"She's probably not going to get to the heights she was going to get because of her feet issues that have held her back a bit, but ever since she's had them she looks like she wants a mile and a quarter.

"So we'll head over to Adelaide on Saturday week for a little 2000-metre race and hopefully she can fill a hole over there."

Dwayne Dunn rode the second of Kent's winners Quilate and was later successful on the Hawkes Racing-trained Tucanchoo in the Ladbrokes Handicap.

The double moved him to 52 metropolitan winners for the season and into a share of the lead in the jockeys' premiership with Craig Williams.
