Ghisoni trials well ahead of Qld campaign

Quality filly Ghisoni has warmed up for her Brisbane winter campaign with an easy barrier trial in Sydney.

The Surround Stakes winner cruised to a close fourth in Monday's 807m heat at Warwick Farm, a hit-out which pleased trainer John O'Shea and jockey James McDonald.

"She's done well since her last run and we're looking forward to her coming back in the Glenlogan Park which gives us good options for the rest of her preparation," O'Shea said.

The Group Three Glenlogan Park Stud Stakes (1350m) is at Doomben on Saturday week, the same day as the Group One Doomben 10,000 for which the filly also holds a nomination.

"She gave me the feel of a very good filly, which we know she is," McDonald said.

"She could have done whatever I asked, but the track was showing some wear by the time she went around so we weren't out to do anything spectacular today."

Ghisoni won her first three starts before finishing sixth in the Coolmore Classic and an unlucky fifth in the Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick last month.

She also holds a Stradbroke Handicap entry and is at $11 in an early market, but whether she runs in Queensland's feature sprint remains to be seen.

Henry Plumptre, Godolphin's managing director in Australia, said the Stradbroke was tempting but so too was the Group One Tattersall's Tiara against her own sex.

"If Ghisoni is kept to fillies' events she is likely to follow the Glenlogan Park Stud Stakes with the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm on the same program as the Stradbroke at Eagle Farm on June 11," Plumptre said on Godolphin's website.

"It might be a more suitable plan to stick to fillies' races, particularly when we take into account the races that are available to her in the spring.

"We have a forward eye on the Melbourne carnival and whatever decisions we take now will have that in mind."
