South Australian trainer David Jolly is in a quandary over where to run Qadir.
The six-year-old is down to run either in an 1800m race at Flemington or over 1950m at Morphettville Parks on Saturday with Jolly set to make a decision based on the weather.
"The 1800 (metres) at Flemington probably suits him better than the 1950 here, but it's probably a bit weaker here," Jolly said.
"He's a little bit better on top of the ground, so we'll analyse all that."
Jolly said if it was decided to run at Flemington the gelding would leave his seaside South Australian base at Goolwa on Friday morning, something the trainer has done with success in Melbourne previously.
Qadir missed a stretch of racing last year after having a slight tendon injury at the conclusion of the Adelaide carnival and has had four runs this time in.
Jolly said he had taken his time with Qadir who at his last start finished eighth in the Robert A Lee Stakes at Morphettville, the race Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance finished second in last month.
"The tendon is really good and has stood up well, but we've been careful with him," Jolly said.
"He's run a couple of nice races without really hitting his straps but he was ridden a bit close in a slowly run race last time.
"They dashed away from him on the turn, but it was quite a solid race and wherever we go on Saturday will suit him better."
