HIGH CHAPARRAL three-year-old CANNON RUN made a winning start to his career at Hawkesbury on Sunday.
Making his debut in a 1300 metre maiden as a rising four-year-old, CANNON RUN drove late to win by a narrow margin, much to the relief of his patient owners!
Trainer John Thompson put his apprentice jockey Blaike McDougall on and the show of faith was repaid with an exemplary ride.
Though a latecomer to the racetrack, CANNON RUN’s first-up victory over an unsuitable distance bodes well for his future.
The win was PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS’ 10th for the calendar year.
Meanwhile, their Group I JJ Atkins runner from the weekend CANDIKA will head to the spelling paddock with a view to returning in the summer.
