Equine pretty boy Nakanai put his modelling career on hold to score an upset win at Doomben.

The outsider in the betting, Nakanai ($21) appreciated the fast early pace and stormed home to win the Giddy Up Club Open Hcp (1100m) on Wednesday.

Trainer Mel Eggleston said Nakanai was a lovely looking horse but his good looks belied the seven-year-old gelding's tough attitude.

"He is the stable pet. But he has been in work for two and a half years and loves it. We don't do much with him but he likes going to the beach," Eggleston said.

"The key to his races is for there to be a fast pace as he can finish hard."

Nakanai cost only $3000 as a yearling and his eighth career win on Wednesday pushed his earnings past $105,000.

"He also is building up a good CV as a model. He has been used in a lot of newspaper and magazine photo shoots. Nakanai was even in the photo shoot with the Queen's grand daughter (Zara Tindall) for Magic Millions promotions."

Time To Torque's win in the Three-Year-Old Plate (1350m) was a genuine family affair as the horse is owned by former jockey Gary Doughty and his son Brent and trained by Gary's wife Kelly.

Time To Torque ($3), a full brother to top sprinter Black Cash, could contest the Caloundra Guineas in a fortnight on his way to two QTIS 1600m races to finish the season.

Ryan Wiggins landed his ninth win from just 33 rides this season for trainer Stuart Kendrick when Go On Red ($6) won the Gallopers Hcp(1666m).

The tough decision to geld expensive More Than Ready galloper More Patasi ($2.80) paid off when he won the Hamilton Hotel Maiden (1110m).

Moss Harry ($4.40) continued to thrive on an unusual treatment program when he scored his second win in his past four starts in the Smirnoff Hcp (1110m).

Trainer Lawrie Mayfield-Smith did some research after Moss Harry suffered continual leg soreness and found a treatment on the internet which has been working.

"The application is used to strengthen teeth in elderly people. It seems to work on horse bones as well," Mayfield-Smith said.
