Trainer Darren Weir has moved to within 10 wins of the commonwealth record for winners in a season.
And the Melbourne Cup-winning trainer is also on the verge of another milestone as he approaches 100 metropolitan winners in Victoria for 2015/16.
With a month of the season remaining, Weir is poised to overtake the mark of 334 set by John Hawkes in 2002/03.
A double at Bendigo on Thursday moved Weir's season tally to 224.
Of the 224 wins, Weir has had 96 metropolitan wins in Victoria with nine city meetings remaining.
Only Lee Freedman (115 in 2005/06), David Hayes (103 in 2006/07) and Peter Moody (103.5 in 2010/11) have reached the century.
Weir has a strong hand at Saturday's Caulfield meeting with acceptors in eight of the nine races.
