Racing identity and well known punter Glenn Pollett has been hit with a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to conduct charges emanating from an online broadcast.
Racing NSW stewards found Pollett had breached three rules in a segment for The Punters Show broadcast on June 6 in which he made comments relating to the supposed lack of concern punters have for injured jockeys.
At a hearing on Thursday, stewards suspended $5000 of the fine on the condition Pollett does not re-offend in the next two years.
The first two charges were for conduct prejudicial to the interest of racing and improper conduct.
The third related to making comments that were obscene, offensive and abusive on a social media channel.
The segment of the show was available online and on Youtube and was also embedded on a Twitter page, @ryanRobertson01, where it was viewed approximately 50 times.
Pollett said in part: "People like Tye and jockeys like that, they think we care about them, if they fall. We don't care. We want to bet. And they should understand that."
In assessing penalty, stewards took into account Pollett's 36 years in the industry, his guilty plea and apology and genuine remorse for his comments.
