James Orman's Brisbane premiership hopes are still alive following a reduction in a careless riding suspension.
The 19-year-old apprentice is in a three-way battle with veterans Jeff Lloyd and Jim Byrne for the senior title.
Orman was suspended for 11 days at the Ipswich Cup meeting on June 18 and has been riding on a stay of proceedings for the past three weeks.
He is on 66 metropolitan winners for the season, one behind Lloyd and half a win ahead of Byrne with seven meetings left in the season.
Orman faced the Racing Disciplinary Board on Friday where he argued his suspension should be overturned but his appeal was dismissed.
However, the RDB reduced his sentence to five days starting on Sunday night after taking into account Orman's good record and the nature of the offence.
"I will miss a couple of good rides on Wednesday but I will be able to ride at the Saturday meeting and it will keep me in the premiership race," Orman said.
