Trainer Barry Baldwin is hoping the worst run of Glendara's career can be put down to the new Eagle farm racing surface.
Glendara was beaten seven lengths when he beat just one opponent in the Listed Spear Chief Stakes (1650m) at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.
He will front up again in the Hog's Steaks Open Hcp (1630m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Baldwin said he had been pleased with Glendara's unlucky third at Doomben two starts back.
"But his run at Eagle Farm in the Spear Chief was his worst to date. I think some horses just don't handle the track there at this stage," Baldwin said.
"They aren't getting beaten two or three lengths - they are getting beaten seven and eight lengths. Some horses on the day were going from being in the fight at the 200 metres to getting beaten a long way."
"It is sure Eagle Farm will settle down to be a top track. But I hope getting back to Doomben will make the difference for Glendara this week."
Glendara's record at Doomben certainly suggests the gelding likes the tighter circuit.
"He races well at Doomben and has won twice as well as being minor placed six times from 11 goes there. He has also never been out of the place at the distance at Doomben," baldwin said.
Apprentice James Orman will ride Glendara for the second time and hopes he can get the run of the race from barrier four.
"I think Jim is a very promising young rider and he suits Glendara's style of racing," Baldwin said.
