Royal Ascot winner Commissioned will attempt to qualify for the Melbourne Cup via the Goodwood Cup.

Making his debut for Gordon Elliott having previously been trained by John Ferguson, the six-year-old produced a fine staying performance to win last month's Queen Alexandra Stakes (4300m).

Part-owner Nick Bradley admits Commissioned faces a step up in class at Goodwood to earn himself a tilt at the Melbourne Cup in November.

"He's back in training and the Goodwood Cup is the plan," Bradley said.

"We'll go there very hopeful and the idea is to get him qualified for Melbourne now. That is our main aim."
