Royal Ascot winner sold to Hong Kong

Tuesday 12 July 2016, 5:41pm

Royal Ascot winner Defrocked has been sold to continue his racing career in Hong Kong.

The Jamie Osborne-trained three-year-old won the Britannia Stakes (1600m) at the Royal meeting in June, his third victory from five starts.

Co-owner Michael Buckley confirmed the sale.

"He's actually been sold to Hong Kong," Buckley told At The Races.

"What I didn't know, not having had a runner in it before, is that the race is a bit of a famous hunting ground.

"He was already a gelding and we've got to keep in business so that we can get the new ones (horses) in."

Roca Tumu, the 2013 Britannia winner, renamed Beauty Flame has twice finished to Hong Kong's champion miler Able Friend in Group One races in Hong Kong.
